Every engine passes a 5-stage inspection or it doesn't ship.
We say no to about 30% of donor engines we look at. Here is what they have to pass before we will send one to you.
Donor verification
We pull VIN history on every donor vehicle before we even buy the engine. Most yards skip this.
See what we check ▾- Full VIN history pulled (theft, flood, fire, salvage records)
- Odometer reading verified against title
- Front-end damage check - must be untouched
- Source photos: front bumper, hood, engine bay
- Documented source vehicle for every unit
Dismantling and visual inspection
Engine pulled with a hoist, never dragged. A tech then inspects every external surface for cracks, welds, or prior repair.
See what we check ▾- Engine pulled with proper hoist equipment
- Block and cylinder head inspected for cracks or welds
- Oil pan checked for damage or makeshift repair
- All sensors and wiring harness intact
- Intake and exhaust manifolds present and clean
- 8-angle photos taken for customer approval
Mechanical testing
Compression test on every cylinder, leak-down test, spin test, and oil drain analysis. This is where most used engines fail and we ship none that do.
See what we check ▾- Compression test on every cylinder (within 10% of spec)
- Leak-down test on every cylinder (under 15%)
- Spin test for rotational smoothness - no grinding or knock
- Oil drain - check for metal shavings, sludge, water/coolant
- Turbo inspection if equipped (no shaft play, no oil in housing)
Documentation and customer approval
Every unit gets a tag with source VIN, mileage, and test results. We send 8 to 12 photos to you for approval. We do not ship until you say yes.
See what we check ▾- Mileage tag attached with source VIN and date
- Compression readings recorded per cylinder
- Source vehicle photo (proves donor was front-intact)
- 8 to 12 photos sent to you for approval
- 48-hour approval window - additional photos on request
Crating and shipping prep
Drained of fluids per DOT regs, crated on a pallet, strapped, foam-protected. Includes a signed assembly checklist.
See what we check ▾- Engine drained of fluids (DOT shipping requirement)
- Mounted on heavy-duty pallet
- Strapped and foam-protected for freight transit
- Signed assembly checklist included in crate
- Final pre-pickup photo emailed to customer
- Freight booked with appointment delivery
